Rainy Day Hacks for Paw Park Visits

If you want to turn your rainy day into a Paw Park day with your pet, here are a few hacks and tips!

The downside to the rainy season is that we get limited time outdoors. A visit to the Paw Park sounds like a great option to keep your pet active in the rain, but we always want to guarantee your pet’s comfort and safety. If you want to turn your rainy day into a Paw Park day with your pet, here are a few hacks and tips!

  1. Pack a towel

Even if the Paw Park is located indoors, you and your pet could encounter some rainfall on the way to the mall. We highly suggest packing a towel in case you need to dry off your pet’s paws and coat before entering and leaving the Paw Park.

If you’re driving to the mall, we also suggest lining your car seat with a towel in case your pet gets wet!

  1. Watch out for slippery floors

Be extra careful when walking your dog indoors, especially around the area near the mall’s entrance. The rain can make the floor tiles extra slippery this season.

If it’s not too crowded, pet parents also recommend asking your dog to sit before the entrance doors. Pausing for a while can remind your pet not to rush!

  1. Don’t underestimate umbrellas

Some pets can get startled with umbrellas suddenly opening. Give people with umbrellas extra space and try to keep your dog on the side of your body that’s away from crowds.

  1. Account for extra time

The mall is a go-to spot when it’s pouring outdoors. Take into consideration the extra time you might need to park or even enter the mall. Accidents are more likely to happen if you and your pet are rushing!

  1. Be cautious in the parking lot

Rain can make a dog more eager to jump out of the car, so make sure they’re securely leashed before letting them out. Also take note that drivers might have less visibility in strong rains so take extra care when crossing the road.
