How to Keep Your Dog Safe While Outdoors
It’s proven that socializing benefits your pet both emotionally and physically. With over 50 Paw Parks in SM Malls nationwide, these indoor pet playgrounds are the perfect venue to acquaint your dog with new pets, people, and situations.
But as a pet parent, it’s natural to worry about possible risks with exposing your pets to others. Here are a couple tips to make sure your pet stays safe outside!
Make sure your pet’s vaccinations are up-to-date.
Double-check with your vet if your pet is properly immunized against diseases such as distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus and rabies. It’s far easier to keep your pet up-to-date with their vaccinations rather than treat illnesses later on.
Fun fact: If you sign up for Super Pets Club, the Pet ID registration helps the mall keep track of pets’ vaccination status to make sure the Paw Parks are safe for every pet and pet parent!
Bring a water bowl for your pet
While there are mall establishments that provide water for pets, it’s still safer to bring your own container. If you have to share with other pets, it’s recommended to sanitize the equipment before each use.
Clean up after your dog
Pets can also get sick through the droppings of infected dogs. To keep your pet and everyone else around you safe and healthy, it’s imperative to collect and safely dispose of your dog’s waste.
Be mindful of your own hygiene
Your pet isn’t the only one meeting other pets at the Paw Park! Part of the fun is pet parents gathering and getting to know other dogs as well.
Although, to protect both you and your pet parent, we recommend practicing proper hygiene. After playing or cleaning up after your pet, we suggest washing and sanitizing your hands thoroughly. To be extra safe, we also recommend changing to a clean set of clothes once you come home from the Paw Park.
Don’t bring your dog out if they’re showing signs of illness.
If your pet shows any sign of injury or sickness, it might be too risky to have them socialize with other pets. We recommend consulting with your vet before taking them to the mall or park.
